Inspiring The Young Age How To Became A Chef ( Part 1 ) ,Beginning of my step into a Professional Kitchen Career.

Hello all , tonight i was doing in the line of Kitchen P23 , that was extremely busy . Thanks GOD, we get 130 ( Edit 166 cover after today am confirm 🙂 ) covers with only three person in the line . Can you imagine it that one . Yes 🙂 is pretty hectic. Well am really enjoy it , then tomorrow we will do the farewell party for one group that been booking with us for almost next 2 month . They are basically an Investment Company that will bring sequence of the group by far for this 2 month and stay with us in the hotel for a week .

So we are arrange for the group from arrival event , BBQ in the Beach and farewell party .

Ok … for the last two other post , am already get in touch a glitch of myself. I hope you will enjoy it as well my story now on, and i hopefully this part of my journey will inspire all the young Chef , or want a be Chef to facing any obstacle for challenging situation that might be stop you in pursuing your dream .

We will start after am graduate from High School . ‘Came on the family that really tough to find a money . Am still remember that day , just right away after finish graduating high school am get news that i will not be able to go to University of College ‘ and that time am already take some exam for Public Account with passing grade a good one to accelerate into that College 🙂 .

Because my family no longer can support of that . So am thinking , even i not go to College of whatsoever . As long as am still have hope , am much believe the door will lead me to it.

Am started to read news pepper and seek the opportunity . And that time i saw one vacant for a Sales Marketing from one of company that make me interested to try . Am prepared all the require document and the next day i came to that place.

Seem weird the place is like not an office but my curiosity lend me to try over it . Basically we sale it any kind of house hold product and they have an opportunity to grow within that program . Frankly i can say this is an MLM . Again am just want to try it .

So the second day , i came . There is a leader are accompany me . And this time we go by train to other city , and sale it that product.

Can you imagine , am wearing a formal attire and go along to a village , pass it the rice field , In the sunny day . Knock door to door . Offer the product .

Then , one day while am offer door to door the product , i came across to this house . Which is the Madam is work for Insurance . As she is the one of the manager from that Insurance Company . She is very interesting with my approaching and giving me her business card . If i want to try to became her team on that company. I was really surprise for this moment , really that there is a thing can work on .

Time flies …………..many experience i got that time . But only for one week then am decide it to quit . It is no a bad at all , the thing  is i know how hard it is . and of course i get an lesson from it . and am decide to go to her and let her know am interest and join with her.

Am forget the name of the Insurance company , but that time am feel it that am all of sudden up to the next level . In term of what am and where am eat .

Yes , is no joke that before am eat in the traditional public place . In indonesia we call it ‘Warteg ” to an air conditioner place and every time am attend that one week class . Am eating very very nice food . 🙂 hahahaha….

We are in the small group that time , doing the class for a week . From the introduce of the company , Product and opportunity to growth by within.

And an also feel it the excitement of when they do Team Building into DUFAN, and Indonesian wonderland free of charge . They provide everything , am just came and enjoy it.

Really am enjoy it that time and very keen with the manager and the branch manager . They are really good people . But unfortunate after one month am got into the situation which is i know , it is really hard to sale Insurance Product . I need to build trusted and determine on it . Then am frustrated because i need money as well just to go and find a client . Until i don’t have more money to go , then am quit the job. I might say is only 3 month am survive there.

One morning day , after that week of doing that MLM job . My grandmother tell me, that she have somebody that could help me . Mr. Sutisna is his name.

He is the first ever person that give me so many lesson about life and how we are need to facing it , be determine and actually we will get the benefit of it soon or later. So that they me and my grandmother went to his house, which is actually a best friend of my grandmother.

Am already prepared my CV along the way complete with every document might be needing during the meet up’. Yes he have an opportunity for me , that they seek a bus boy , hmmmm….. we can call it assistant waiter . in one restaurant in Cibubur TMII Jakarta.

From that opportunity , am learn what we call it ‘Hospitality Industries’. I can’t say the salary was good enough . Because it is really far from my house, and i need to go by bus . approximately it cover 1 and half hour to reach the location from bus station.

My first week Mr.Sutisna is always gone with me going to work place. Then am learn while we are heading the place work . Talk about anything am interested in a business industries.

I know a lot of people , get some connecting to other college which is they been work in the hotel before , and get to know how it is . Am work there for Six month , then i got an opportunity life changing first step…………..

Where am work now ‘ Turks n Caicos , Caribbean . The Palm Hotel and Resort’

Hello ,

Tomorrow am off , so excited to writing this topic . This island is really beautiful, as its Motto beautiful by nature.

So to explore more the feel about the island, lets started the journey…..

The Turks and Caicos Islands or TCI for short, are a British Overseas Territory consisting of the larger Caicos Islands and smaller Turks Islands, two groups of tropical islands in the Lucayan Archipelago of the Caribbean Sea and northern Caribbean region.

They are known primarily for tourism and as an offshore financial centre. The resident population is about 49,000, of whom 23,769 live on Providenciales in the Caicos Islands.

The Turks and Caicos Islands lie southeast of Mayaguana in the Bahamas island chain and north of the island of  Hispaniola and the other Antilles archipelago islands. Cockburn Town, the capital since 1766, is situated on Grand Turk Island about 1,042 kilometres (647 mi) east-southeast of  Miami, United States. The islands have a total land area of 430 square kilometres (170 sq mi).

The main export thing is Conch and Lobster . Conch season is October 15 to July 15 , and the Lobster season is August 1 – March 31.

The animal that common in TCI , donkey, cows, potcakes, cats, iguana, lizard, horse. Speaking about lizard , they are really everywhere . 🙂

Hopefully this covered up of where am now and the hotel am work with, is a such good opportunity to came here . Totally different culture and atmosphere . Unlike when am in Dubai or Abu Dhabi . Here we are at the accommodation but still there is something here and there need to adapt well .

From where you can found the best place for daily needs until you need to collect some coin just for a laundry :).

The weather is really beach type , have a breeze but being this month july until august is humid . Then September start to more cold until March.

The transportation is quite hard if we don’t have car , especially if your work place far from accommodation. But lucky me not far from accommodation to hotel so am choose bicycle for transportation.

There is so much of restaurant and cafe here but because of they targeting for tourist so the price is is expensive , so for sometime only am choose to dine outside 🙂 , am prefer make alone food in the house.

First Post my insight how to became a Chef

How to become a chef

Am dedicated this blog for my wife Shinda Aprilia, my daughter Andagita vilnaira atha, my boy Ahmad Hikkal Zanovello . My Mother Sri Zulsyarini , my sister Intan tenri anka , my brother Ahmad Maulana , My Father Zubir Andi Kasim , My Step Father Dede Ahmad ,My uncle Nash Andi Kasim, My cousin Anto Noprianto, Bramanto Hudono, My former Chef Peter Tan , Chef Nathan Brown , Chef Tamer Shawky to all my best friend Andiman Tanudjaja, Jefferson Lim ,Paul Bayona , Bararenar Aring , Joko Ariya Bakir, Trisna Purbadi Sartono, and all that i cant mention here 🙂 because actually is a lot of . Thank you for being part of my life and career . Gratitude always for the share and everything till the point where am be right now . It will not be happen if not because of you all .

Hay folks, before we go to my aim target , share with you how to became a chef. In this time i will just brief of myself first  . My name Hidayah Anka . you can call me ‘ogie’. Am came up with this idea that after years do a Chef career.

Is been quite years and take a hard work , time and dedication to reach my position right now.

When i was a child, there is one program in Television . That filming the French cooking way a like.An the other person make great influence is  my grandmother, she was trully really a great cook, she can make me eating that i don’t like to eat before. 🙂 is quite funny though , as we knew toddler are very picky in food , but the amazing thing is when she start to take it and put it on my mouth , i feel really tempted with the taste.

I was not plan to became a chef before , but situation and condition lend me to practice of the expertise. As after high school i don’t have any support to continue for College, then my Uncle is the one give me the opportunity . There is scholarship for Food production and he asked me to try . Allah bless me with that opportunity and am gain for Diploma for a year. Been able to work with the company that given to me the scholarship . Fortunate for me that time am read news paper that will held interview with one of the Executive Chef from one of Best Restaurant in Dubai. After the interview i got it the chance and i found a way to finish the contract with before hand company, which is am been able to pay back some tuition . And my journey is begin and am move on to Dubai UAE.

From that point several years , am thinking that i should move to Five Star Hotel which mean will open more door of opportunity for me . After of Six continues month am apply my CV to every where . i mean really am determine with my thought , every single off am go to internet spend hours and hours just to seek ‘HR email address’ 🙂  for me to sent my CV. At last the day of my changing career from work in Restaurant to Five Star Hotel been grab it. Am got the job in Fairmont Dubai. Later after years of hard work now on am in The Palm Hotel , Turks and Caicos Caribbean. What i want to say is , be determine with your dream, and ever give up of anything , Pray , be humble , curious, and dedicate it to your family . Everything is a possible.

Am kind of person that really like to find a good place to eat ,anything especially street food . My mom as well give me influence in cooking. And the journey as a Foodie lend me to become a Professional Chef like now a days.

In different continent and place am learn so many things, from Singapore to Korea, Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Seychelles and now am in Turks and Caicos Caribbean.

It was a long journey . !!!!!! it was tough, need a lot of passion , never give up 🙂
